The 2020 Château Miraval is a serious, vibrant rosé that stands out as one of Provence’s benchmark Rosés and rises to its Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie star power ownership, in partnership with Perrin family. At less than half the price associated with other Provence-defining bottles, it’s one of the region’s greatest bargains, too.

This is genuine rosé brilliance through winemaker Marc Perrin, who is famous for making iconic Châteauneuf-du-Pape (including 100-point bottles) at Château de Beaucastel. Marc has crafted a, impressively sleek and bright wine in whose vibrant fruit had us hoping for another glass.

Few Provence wines have topped out like Château Miraval. They made one of the first rosés to actually crack Wines Spectator’s Top One Hundred, and were chosen by Wine Enthusiast among three (out of almost one, 000) top Provence rosés. The other two were Château d’Esclans and Château Gassier wines that go for $86 and $51 respectively. The 2020 Château Miraval is a bargain indeed.

Château Miraval might have made headlines with regard to its affiliation with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, yet its exceptional rosés are the real stars of the show. Marc Perrin’s wine contributions are so supple, smooth, and contemplative that will each year they’ve managed to upstage not only Hollywood stars, but the estate’s previous claims to fame—Pink Floyd recorded The Wall in its onsite studio, where Sting, Sade, and The Cranberries have also discovered inspiration in Miraval’s magical terroir.

Grapes and the Wine

With grapes planted at 1,150 ft of elevation, the soils are rich in clay, chalk, and limestone that deliver a prodigious minerality.

Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah, and Rolle are drawn generally from the château’s greatest parcels, before 2 highly selective sortings and vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The result is a really beautiful Provence rosé—and such exceptional quality at such an affordable price.

The 2020 Château Miraval Rosé Cótes de Provence France Tasting Review

A rose-salmon color with pale pink hues. The nose is filled with nectarine, white strawberry, and yellow raspberries, together with cherry blossoms and jasmine. The mouth feel is clean, with a juicy yellow plum note, followed by a fresh, clean finish that makes this rosé a wonderful afternoon treat or an early accompaniment to a salad or starter.
