Let’s delve into Grenache with wine legend and vintner Lane Tanner!
Lane Tanner is an American winemaker and consultant. She was the second woman winemaker in Santa Barbara County when she started working in the industry in 1981. She goes by the nickname “Pinot Czarina.” She worked at Konocti Winery in Kelseyville with one of the most famous figures in American wine history Andre Tchelistcheff. She made wine for Firestone Winery, the Hitching Post, for her own label and now with winemaker Will Henry for Lumen.
Grenache is one of my favorite varietals because it goes so well with spicy food and grilled meats. It can have a wide range of flavor profiles depending on where it is grown and how it is vinified. A very expressive grape!
