The Meritage Resort and Spa and Peter Michael Winery have partnered together to create an exceptional experience for connoisseurs of exquisite wine, cuisine and music. This special reception and six course dinner will feature five rare Peter Michael wines, a welcome glass of Dom Pérignon Brut and a classic Manhattan with an “icy” dessert, plus live music during both the reception on our Vineyard Deck and dinner in the Estate Cave.
In 1982, after a six-year search, Sir Peter Michael and Lady Michael purchased 630 acres of volcanic ridges on the western face of Mount St. Helena in Knights Valley, north of Calistoga. Drawing inspiration from the great wineries of Burgundy and Bordeaux, the family hired like-minded viticulturists and winemakers to help them create terroir-driven wines that would stand the test of time. Throughout its history, the winery has continued to reflect Sir Peter’s founding credo of “mountain vineyards, classical winemaking, limited production.” In keeping with Sir Peter’s “100 by 100 plan” – 100% family ownership for at least 100 years – there has been a generational passing of the baton at the estate. Over the past few years, son Paul Michael and his wife Emily have assumed increasing responsibility in the strategic direction of the winery.
The evening begins on our picturesque vineyard deck with a glass Dom Pérignon Brut 2006 featuring perfectly paired aperitifs as you enjoy the Napa Valley view followed by dinner in the Estate Cave. Throughout the evening, Nicolas Morlet, Peter Michael’s winemaker, will share about the history of the wines and his winemaking philosophy as he leads you in this once-in-a-lifetime wine and culinary journey.
