The Crux is an encyclopedic band of multi-instrumentalists, performing barn dance tunes, klezmer jams, pirate shanties, and bluesy dirges in a theatrical performance style. Their sound is an energetic brand of folk music enlivened with a taste of punk.
Taking no prisoners, New York City’s favorite new horn-powered band has turned Jazz into Rock & Roll, and their triumphant fanfare reminds a quickly growing fan-base that soulfulness does come from anywhere.
Based in New York City, The Rad Trads have quickly gained a reputation as one of New York’s most entertaining live acts. They bring their love of the game to a diverse style of soulful American music, with influences ranging from early jazz to New Orleans brass band and funk, to the Chicago and Delta blues, to Rock & Roll. Featuring four powerful horns, a driving rhythm section, and three captivating lead vocalists, The Rad Trads consistently win over audiences with their relentless energy, charisma, and enthusiasm. One year after releasing their debut EP, “Self Help”, the band is releasing a single, “Rosalie”, with a b- Side “Since You Been Gone” on May 19th, in anticipation of their upcoming debut album featuring all original music. The band performs regularly in NYC at Brooklyn Bowl, Rough Trade, Baby’s All Right, Webster Hall, The Blue Note, BB King’s, and Radegast Hall when not touring across the USA and Europe. Members of The Rad Trads continue to perform with top groups such as Truth & Soul Record’s “Lee Fields & The Expressions,” “Lady,” EMEFE, Broadway giant Jason Robert Brown, and have performed or recorded with artists such as Deer Tick, Jonathan Batiste & Stay Human, Antibalas, St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Ikebe Shakedown, Lenny Pickett, and Joe Lovano among many others.
