Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, known for being the winery that won the Cabernet Sauvignon competition in the 1976 Judgment of Paris will be joining The Meritage Resort for a Masters Winemaker Dinner this June. Beyond tasting history, this is your opportunity to be among the first to taste Elia, a brand new Rose from Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars that will only be exclusive to their Napa Valley tasting room after its release at this dinner. You will also enjoy the 2012 Cask 23, a wine that received the elusive 100-point rating from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.

Founded in 1970 and considered a Napa Valley first-growth estate the winemaker consistently creates wines of classic beauty — wines with balance, complexity and harmony. Their signature style has often been described as “an iron fist in a velvet glove,” a reference to the artful balance between ripeness and restraint, softness and structure, that yields wines of exceptional beauty and long life. Achieving that style requires a level of attention to detail found only among the world’s most dedicated wine producers.

Our dinner will begin in the heart of vineyards at The Meritage Resort on the Vineyard Deck with a reception at 6:30 p.m. After the reception we will move into the Estate Cave for an elegant dinner at a King’s Table where you will be among the first to taste the brand new Elia Rose from Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars and hear from the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars’ Assistant Winemaker, Elizabeth DeLouise-Gant and the culinary team from The Meritage Resort, learning about how each course was paired.

About the Winemaker:
Elizabeth DeLouise-Gant joined the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars winemaker team as Assistant Winemaker in May of 2014. Prior to joining Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, Elizabeth worked the 2013 harvest at Tamber Bey Vineyards in Calistoga and was previously the Assistant Winemaker at Beaulieu Vineyard where she was responsible for overseeing production operations for the Georges de Latour Private Reserve Winery. In addition, she carried out all phases of research.

Elizabeth begin her career at Beaulieu Vineyards in 1999 as a Lab Technician and became Technical Service and Quality Control Manager in 2005. She was named Assistant Winemaker in April 2007.

Elisabeth graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with a minor in Cultural Anthropology. She was rasied in the Napa Valley and gained her first taste of the wine industry helping out in her parent’s vineyards. Her passion for wine led her to apply her Biology background to the science of winemaker. She enrolled in the Winemaking Certificate Program at UC Davis, which she completed in 2008.
