A departure from our three previous vintages in that we blended this Paso Robles Petite Sirah with 10% Syrah from the Carneros AVA in the Napa Valley and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon from the High Valley AVA in Lake County.
Beautiful aromas of dark cherry, raspberry, and blueberry. Dark berry flavors continue to dominate the mid-palate with just a hint of coffee and pepper accompanying the strong but balanced tannins. The good acidity and tannin structure will allow this wine to continue to improve with age and should drink well for the next 15 to 20 years.
85 Points, Wine Enthusiast:
"This is a heavy, bitterly tannic young wine that shows ripe blackberry and coffee flavors and spices. The raw astringency makes it tough now, fit only for greasy foods like barbecued ribs. It should age well for a long time, but will never quite overcome its rustic profile. S.H." (12/31/2007)
79 Points, Wine Spectator:
"Gritty and drying, with talcy notes to the wild berry and peppery plum flavors. 571 cases made. –MW" (2008)
