Buzet is a wine appellation of the south west of France, located just to the south east of Bordeaux. It also produces predominately reds but rose and white wines as well.
Their wines are made by a very small number of producers, notably the Vignerons de Buzet co-operative who produce the vast majority of these wines. This co-operative has been making its own barriques for over sixty years, which enables it to give its wines the high quality oak maturation associated with the more expensive wines of Bordeaux. The use of Merlot to produce softer, more approachable wines is increasing as the modern consumer demands more supple, younger-drinking wines.
"La Fleur" literally translates to "flower" which implies a floral quality to the wine.
