The Philosophy
Nestled in the heart of the Dry Creek Valley, there are 26 very special acres devoted Zinfandel and Petite Sirah at Truett Hurst. Their vision: create world class wines using biodynamic farming principles.
The style of wine, be it spicy and bold, or fruit driven and elegant, is dictated by the vineyard. Understanding this and allowing for the authentic translation of its terroir is paramount for making unforgettable wines. This winery is a certified Biodynamic® farm which means that it follows strict standards to enrich the soil as well as the prohibited use of pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers, etc.
The Wine
The 2006 Truett-Hurst Burning Man Petite Sirah is 95% varietal, with 5% Zinfandel blended in. This wine was aged in French (60%) and American (40%) oak for 12 months. The fruit was sourced in the North Coast appellation.
This is a robust wine and will age magnificently. It is intensely scented with ripe plum and blackberry, enhanced by orange blossom and honeysuckle notes. The mouth feel is rich, ripe and round and packed with flavors of dark fruits, toasted coconut and peppery spice with firm but approachable tannins.
