The concept behind this wine was for it to embody all the different appellations of the Napa Valley. In contrast to most wines, which are produced to reflect the flavor of a specific vineyard or appellation, this blend strives to represent the flavors of all the different growing areas within the Napa Valley. There had been 13 sub-appellations when the wine was first created and the Oak Knoll District was added in 2004, bringing the total to 14 (hence the confusing new name).
"This wine is robust with a heavier mid-palate and should prove to be a crowd pleaser… It [also] has the perfect balance of texture and fruit forward flavor that one would expect from 14 of the best vineyards from Napa," Steve Reynolds, winemaker.
