This classic Chardonnay displays fresh lime, pear and peach flavors which will become more complex with time in the bottle. Savor the aromas of citrus and lime with definite minerality on the nose. The wine reflects a balance between fruit and natural acidity, and the long finish shows balanced oak integration. Grown in the Overberg ward of the Elgin Valley in South Africa.
Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
These vineyards are set in a mountainous eco route area known as the world’s first biodiversity wine route. The Elgin Valley has a reputation for intense, aromatic white wines. The grapes were grown less than 5 miles from the Indian Ocean, in a microclimate with noticeable cooler temperatures and soil with a higher rate of water retention. The wine was fermented and aged in French oak, with only a partial malolactic fermentation to maintain the natural acidity and minerality of the wine. The special barrel selection of this vintage by the Mandela family resulted in a limited selection of this fine wine.

Not a big chardonnay drinker, but I'll drink this one any day. It's not overly oak like you're chewing on a stick...instead, it's creamy and full-bodied. It's a nice change from my Sauv Blanc addiction.
