The nose advances through a succession of enticing aromas, starting with smoke and tar, opening into lychee, and arriving at deeply concentrated roasted chestnuts, pepper, and sandalwood. The powerful mouth features a condensed center, with jammy and earthy flavors, and a focused yet extremely long finish.

Under Gerhard's watchful eyes, two friends in the neighborhood joined forces with us during the spring of 1999 and planted identical Syrah clones and rootstocks on their properties. The total acreage for these vineyards is just below two.

This is now our sixth vintage from these exquisite vineyards that surround the picturesque Mt. George, an inactive volcano situated northeast of downtown Napa. Gerhard’s diligent farming and extreme crop thinning has led to this beautiful wine. Our 2004 Syrah Mt. George Vineyard sold out just one month after it was released and although we miss it, we couldn’t wait to release this stunner – our 2006 Syrah Mt. George Vineyard is one of our favorites to date!!
