Dedication to the craft – and each other
We marvel at Gerhard and Linda Reisacher. There’s no harder working
husband-and-wife team in the wine business today than Linda and Gerhard
Reisacher. The pair hooked up while slaves to the wine trade — both working
for others. With the 1992 harvest, Gerhard made a serious commitment
to make his own wine. Three years later, he and his future bride abandoned
their “day jobs” in order to launch Delectus Wines. (They were married in
Gerhard’s hometown of Baden, Austria, in 1998.)
Since that time, Linda and Gerhard have labored tirelessly to produce consistently outstanding red wines, primarily single vineyard Cabernets, Merlots, Bordeaux blends and a lip-smacking Petite Sirah.
Their efforts have paid off with consumers and wine critics alike. Wine Spectator has consistently meted out high scores when reviewing Delectus wines and their circle of fans grows increases with every new release.
Delectus Vineyards’ 2006 Petite Sirah isn’t for the faint of heart due to it’s
vivacious aromas of Marion berries, white pepper, burnt caramel, teriyaki beef
jerky, black olives and French vanilla ice cream. The mouth is powerful and
exuberant with a finish that we’d describe as rolling and lengthy (not to
mention satisfying). Since this all-star Petite Sirah would also benefit from
some aging, it also makes a terrific gift.
