Vivacious aromas of marionberries, white pepper, burnt caramel, teriyaki beef jerky, black olives and French Vanilla ice cream. The mouth is powerful and exuberant, full of cloves, coffee beans, mouth-coating tannins and a bit of minerality. The rolling finish is lengthy and satisfying.
89 Points, Wine Spectator:
"Intense, tannic and concentrated, with espresso, spice, and black fruit flavors. The finish is chewy and focused by leather notes, but the appeal is the rustic profile and concentration. Drink now through 2014. 325 cases made. –MW" (2009)
87 Points, Wine Enthusiast:
"Dark, rich and as softly chewy as a chocolate, blackberry, roasted almond and vanilla power bar, wrapped into thick but easy tannins. The alcohol is 16.5%. S.H." (9/1/2009)
2005 was a marvelous year for wine in the Napa Valley: extremely long hang time paired with consistent temperatures during the growing season resulted in an unbelievably beautiful and luscious Petite Sirah that we couldn’t wait to share with you. We’ve always said that our Petite Sirah is not for the fainthearted, and this vintage is the epitome of that statement. This wine is still very young and will benefit from some aging. Our 2005 Petite Sirah was released on April 15th and only 375 cases were produced… Be among the first to get your hands on some!

I think that this is a beautifully crafted wine with some of my favorite flavors fused together. Intensly purple with pronounced spice on the nose and a wiff of coffee. That is just how I like it. Steely mouthfeel with excellent length. All that was missing was the Steak Tartare.
