The Bouwland winery is owned and run by farm workers, who, through an exciting empowerment project, bought the majority of the shares in the property. This includes 56 hectares of prime vineyards comprising noble red varietals. It is situated on the famous, historic slopes where the Stellenbosch Simonsberg region delivers arguably the finest wines in South Africa.
A full bodied Bordeaux-style blend with deep red color. It is a complex wine where the red and blackberry flavors of the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot fruit are well integrated with the nutty and vanilla notes of the oak. It is well balanced but a wine that will improve in the bottle for at least 4 – 5 years. A wonderful pair with pasta or red meat.
The grapes of this wine were specially selected from the foothills of the Stellenbosch mountains within the Stellenbosch wine region. Oak matured for 12 months, this is a complex, full-bodied wine with layers of berry, coffee, cassis and vanilla flavours. This wine is handcrafted for your enjoyment and will benefit from further bottle maturation.
