Can't Get No Satisfaction?

"Well, look no further, because this little Aussie satisfies all! Midway between the oaky, buttery style from California and the crisper, more traditional Old World French style, this wine will be appreciated by any white wine lover."

Aussies have become known worldwide for producing amazing reds like Cabernet Sauvignon and their signature Shiraz. But when it comes to whites, Chardonnay is their leading lady and this wine clearly shows why.

As basic wine styles go, Australian Chardonnay sits at the midpoint between tropical-flavored, buttery, oaked California Chardonnays and French Old World Chardonnays which display more mineral qualities and a restrained “kiss of oak”. Combining the best of both worlds, our 2009 possesses the acidity necessary to complement food, and because it is only lightly oaked it won’t overpower food.

For winemaking, we’ve turned to Berton Vineyards to produce the Grass Tree Chardonnay exclusively for Winetasting.com. Berton has a reputation for finding small crops of intensely flavored fruit from some of South East Australians best vineyards, as evident in this tantalizing white with depth and creaminess. And, best of all, the price is right.

Silver Medal, Best Buy, 2011 World Wine Championships:

"Aromas of peach and apple pastries and melon sorbet with a soft, dryish light-to-medium body and a tangy lemon-lime, nut and earth accented finish. A solid table wine. Pair with mussels or grilled chicken." (4/25/2011)
