Whitehall Lane is recognized as a premier producer of Napa Valley wines. The combination of hillside and valley floor fruit balances beautifully in this perfectly aged offering. Gently floral and sweet ripe aromas elegantly expand to flavors of black cherry, plum and cedary earth tones.
As has been a tradition with the Leonardini Cabernet, the 2005 is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Picked by hand from four vine rows in the Leonardini Vineyard, the grapes are typically very tiny with a low juice-to-skin ratio. That low ratio translates into intensity in color and flavor going into fermentation. The wine was aged for 25 months in 100% French oak cooperage, gracefully synthesizing the heady, concentrated fruit with the toasted vanilla qualities of the barrel.
This deep wine has alluring aromas and flavors of black cherry, plum and berry with hints of vanilla. It has a velvety texture, with good body, weight and intensity. The tannin, while soft and lingering, brings structure to the ripe fruit flavors. This classic wine is beautiful now but will continue improving and evolving through 2019.
