The Howell Mountain is intense and powerful, as you would expect from fruit grown on rugged Howell Mountain. It is a terroir or vineyard wine as it reflects the personality of an individual vineyard.
This wine has nice fruit aromas, a rich mid-palate, well balanced acidity and a medium finish.
Lush berry fruit serves as the base of this wine. Merlot adds opulence and breadth, while a dash of Petit Verdot adds depth and structure.
The 2008 Monticello Tietjen Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is showing great aroma. Dark fruit, loads of sweet vanilla and mocha oak.
The 2008 Caravina (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) exhibits copious aromas of coffee, chocolate and black currants along with silky tannins, good density, not the complexity of its bigger sibling, but an attractive mouthfeel and plenty of length.
