The color is a deep garnet that offers aromas of baked blackberry, black raspberry and hints of olive tapenade, followed by toasted oak spices of toffee, maple-candy and coffee beans.

Wine Enthusiast says: "It's ripe and almost sweet in jammy blackberries, cherries, chocolate, smoky oak and peppery spices, but is given depth and drama by the fine structure of tannins."

Firm and silky upon entry, the palate is intense with rich, round flavors of sweet cherry, currant, tobacco and baking spices. Supple, chewy tannins support a long, persistent finish.

It has a very long, savory finish with the slight grip of fine-grained tannins. Given proper cellaring, this wine should give drinking pleasure through 2030.
