Rosé Wine

Rose being poured into a wine glassLight, refreshing and delicious, a chilled rosé wine makes the perfect summer sipper and matches easily with a wide variety of foods. Rosés range in taste from bone-dry to sugary sweet, although the current trend is toward dryer styles.

Rose wine can be made from any number of red grape varietals, depending on the grapes grown in the region and the winemaker's personal preference. Popular choices in California include Syrah and Pinot Noir; in Spain, you're more likely to find a Tempranillo-based rosado, whereas an Italian rosato may be made from Sangiovese. Some winemakers like to add a little white wine into the blend as well.
