Caymus Vineyards
Charlie Wagner was long known as a grower of outstanding grapes before he established the Caymus label in 1972, converting an old barn into a working winery. The 1975 vintage saw the birth of the now-legendary Special Selection Cabernets, which are created from the choicest grapes and given extended aging.

By the 1980's, Caymus was producing 1,000 cases of the Special Select. Due to the popularity of these wines, demand grew for more Caymus Cabernets. In 1984, Wagner responded with the Napa Valley Cuvée. With the introduction of this label, Caymus added a Napa Valley bottling, made exclusively from grapes purchased in the Napa Valley.
Over two decades later, Caymus wines are having a greater impact than ever. The 1990 Special Selection Cabernet not only won Wine Spectator's "Wine Of The Year" for 1994, but put Caymus in the top ten more than any other wine produced in this country. Furthermore, Caymus became the only repeat winner of this prestigious award.
