In the 1970's, Swiss businessman Nicolaus Hahn and his wife Gaby purchased two ranches and developed them into vineyards in California's Central Coast. Decades later, Hahn Family Wines now comprises over 1,000 acres.

In German, "Hahn" means "rooster" ... the logo proudly displayed on their label as a nod to Nicolaus' European heritage.

Hahn vineyardsTheir Monterey County vineyards sit above the fog line, allowing grapevines to benefit from full sun. Yet maritime breezes moderate afternoon heat, allowing the grapes to attain their maximum potential. We are fortunate to carry these outstanding vintages from Hahn Estates.

This, along with the particular yeast strain I have been using, adds a creaminess and viscosity to the wine that coats the palate. -- Paul Clifton, winemaker
