Under the Uvaggio label, owner/winemaker Jim Moore bottles lesser-known Italian grape varietals like Vermentino, Barbera, Primitivo and Arneis. His Moscato wine is made from Moscato Giallo, a varietal so obscure in the U.S. that he can't legally include "Giallo" on the label.
Before founding his own winery, Moore spent nearly two decades as an associate winemaker at Robert Mondavi. He sources his grapes from the Lodi area, an up-and-coming wine region where you can get high-quality grapes for a much lower price than the Napa Valley.
